WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Wednesday, May 10th, Councilmember Mary M. Cheh (D-Ward 3) will begin a series of readiness tours of outdoor public pools and aquatic facilities throughout the District. The tours will be conducted with officials from the Department of Parks & Recreation (DPR) and the Department of General Services (DGS). Councilmember Cheh conducts these tours in an effort to ensure that outdoor pools and aquatic facilities are ready by the start of the pool season which begins Memorial Day Weekend. The first day of tours will cover the spray parks in Ward 3.

“These tours are aimed at providing residents some assurance that their neighborhood pools and aquatic facility will be in good working order for the summer months,” said Cheh. “It is my hope that with these tours we can prevent any unnecessary closures or delayed openings due to broken equipment or lack of proper maintenance.”
